SURCAS Presents: Orpheus (2013)

OrpheusWinner of “Best Major Event” 2013 at University of Sydney Union

Ladies and Gentlemen, girls and boys, step right up to see the magic, the mystery, the daring and danger, as SURCAS presents: Orpheus!

Orpheus is a contemporary circus show retelling the Ancient Greek tragic myth, ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’. Orpheus loves Eurydice, but on the day of their wedding she dies. Desolate, Orpheus travels to the Underworld to win her back. Along the way he must overcome the Ferryman, three-headed Cerberus, and the ghostly Shades, finally challenging the God of Death, Hades himself. But can he challenge Fate?

Showcasing the many talents of SURCAS, the Sydney University Recreational and Circus Arts Society, it includes acrobalance, aerials, diabolo, hooping, juggling, poi, rope dart, and more. Sure to be a spectacular night of entertainment for young and old alike, with only four performances in a professional Big Top – come join the circus for Orpheus.
